I was having brunch with my cousin, kiking about bougie Black folk stuff, like, how Howard University is the only HU we recognize and how J. Cole writes raps for people who only half read the Autobiography of Malcolm X. As we’re chatting, he tells me that I act like an old white woman.
I’ll admit that I do like pumpkin spice. I just bought pumpkin spice flavored pumpkin seeds, pumpkin flavored yogurt and I made baked ziti with a pumpkin chipotle sauce.
I also enjoy watching reruns of Felicity and I listen to Hoobastank’s The Reason at times. I do drive like a white elder, very cautious and abiding the speeding limits. But for the most part, I’m blackity Black.
You don’t get much Blacker than being from Baltimore and attending Howard University.
I have been fiending for FILA Disruptors since they dropped. They just make an outfit as they are touch dresser than regular kicks. Shorts and a crop top? FILA Disruptors takes the fit to the next level. A sweater dress? Throw on FILA Disruptors. I also love that they have a platform so they give me some height.
Unfortunately, I really wanted FILA Disruptors to be my airport sneakers but they are so uncomfortable. They cute but I should have really followed the reviews on Urban Outfitters that said to order a size up but sometimes, I just don’t trust white girls. I mean, they voted for Trump.
I don’t think my sneaker choice makes me basic. There are tons of other things that makes chicks basic like:
voting for Trump
still listening to Kanye West
still hoping for the old Kanye West
plastering down bangs like baby hairs
entertaining men who don’t match your vibe, mentally, emotionally and spiritually
chasing men who aren’t old, white and dead
staying at a job you hate
and dragging your feet towards your goals
I’mma wear my FLIA Disruptors but everything else is for the birds.
